About
The Latinx Roots Database is an open source collection of profiles celebrating influential historical figures from Latin America and the Latino/Hispanic community — built to make this history searchable, shareable, and reusable.
Each profile is structured with biographical details, societal contributions, historical impact, and cited references. The database is designed not just to be read, but to be used: a JSON API lets developers pull profiles directly into games, educational tools, or any project that wants to celebrate Latinx history.
Open and Extendable
The project is MIT licensed and lives on GitHub. Contributions are welcome — whether that means adding a new profile, improving an existing one, or building something new on top of the data.
The validation tools built into the project ensure that every profile meets a consistent quality standard before it’s published.
